From July to October 2021 Another Provision hosted a series of food justice workshops at Rasheed Araeen's food project Shamiyaana in collaboration with the
National Food Service London.
The first participatory workshop analysed what types of spaces enable people to come together through shared food. The participants had the chance to practice hands-on design work and reflect on the qualities of their favourite communal eating spaces.
A second event explored the trajectories of food histories and futures: We looked at the journeys our meals have taken via migration, global supply chains, and within the city, and considered the routes to a more just and sustainable food system. The text-based outputs from this workshop will contribute to a cross-over publication including poetry, accessible research-based content, and visions for just food futures articulated by people experiencing food poverty.
