Food growing cultures in and around the Olympic Park
– Discussion & Free-of-Charge Community Lunch -
Join us on Sunday, 28 April at 2pm at
UCL East Marshgate for a discussion about growing and food as community connector, with a focus on culturally appropriate food grown by migrant communities around the Olympic Park. We will invite speakers from local community food activists, UCL food experts, local food groups and allotment gardeners.
Followed by a free-of-charge community meal made from surplus food. All welcome!

Alternative approaches to communal food provision
– Workshop & Free-of-Charge Community Lunch -
Join us at
422 Arts in Manchester to discuss historical and contemporary models that use food to build community and foster wellbeing, rather than merely to make a profit. We will be conversing with Isaac Tendler and Bevan Richardson from
Sheffield Food Hall and imagine together what a different, more just, sustainable and healthy food future might look like. The workshop will be followed by a beautiful vegan kurdish meal cooked by
Heart & Parcel.

Radical food practices
– Discussion & Free-of-Charge Community Lunch -
Join us for
Anti University at
Cooperation Town Hub Gardens for a session of collective learning exploring the links between radical politics and communal food practices. We will learn from historic examples like the Black Panthers’ breakfast programme and food sovereignty in social struggles to talk about what we can draw from them for new movements seeking to build sustainable and joyful food communities at the local level.
The event will be facilitated by Leila Dear and Beth Martin and organised in collaboration with the
National Food Service London, followed by a free-of-charge vegetarian/vegan community lunch provided by the resident
Refugee Community Kitchen.

On 12th August from 2.30-5pm, the Locavore Community Garden in Folkstone will be open for food, workshops and community conversations. We are joining
Custom Food Lab for their 'seeding the commons' programme. The
feast will be prepared by chefs and artists, together with children who are part of the Locavore growing project
Taking Root holiday club, using garden produce and surplus food rescued from local businesses.

Ridley Road Market. We need to make sure the local council doesn't alter the market beyond recognition and that the various communities present will be respected.
